BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — A Roger Williams University (RWU) student died Saturday after suffering a medical emergency, the university announced.
According to an email by RWU, junior Paige Moreau was studying abroad in Florence, Italy when the medical emergency happened.
“University officials have communicated with Paige’s family to share our condolences and offer our support,” the email read. “The Moreau family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Florence program for their exceptional care and compassion from the very first call.”
“The family acknowledged that every person went above and beyond to assist them, and they recognized the extraordinary efforts to save Paige,” the university added.
A gathering will take place Monday for students to come together and process at the Student Development building’s lounge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
RWU said counseling services and resources are available for those in the campus community.
Funeral services have not been announced at this time. The university said more information will be shared as soon as it’s available.
