Donald Trump Jr. is slamming Gov. Ron DeSantis for campaigning in other states while Florida floods.
“Fort Lauderdale is under water and DeSantis is campaigning in Ohio right now instead of taking care of the people suffering in his state,” he said on Twitter Thursday.
DeSantis has not formally announced a bid for president but is widely expected to after the Florida legislature wraps up in May. He is the top 2024 GOP rival to former President Donald Trump, according to polls.
The Florida governor took his book tour to Ohio Thursday and will make his first stop in New Hampshire Friday night, where he is giving a keynote address to Republican donors.
Trump will speak at an NRA convention Friday in Indianapolis, where DeSantis will appear by video.
These events come as Florida has been hammered by flooding and torrential rains that began Wednesday and prompted a state of emergency in Broward County. Some roads remain impassable in Fort Lauderdale.
