On the latest episode of TSN Insider Trading, NHL insider Darren Dreger reported that teams are interested in St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn. He also added that he believes the Blues are testing Schenn’s trade market.

It is important to note that Schenn has a full no-trade clause this season, so he would have to gapproveany trade before the deadline. However, starting next season, it will change to a 15-team no-trade list.
With all of this, let’s look at three clubs that could look to acquire Schenn if the veteran ends up being open to a change of scenery at the deadline.
Toronto Maple Leafs
During his Schenn report, Dreger specifically mentioned the Toronto Maple Leafs as an interested team. It is entirely understandable that the Leafs have their eye on Schenn, as they have been looking for help down the middle.

If the Maple Leafs acquired Schenn, he could be a perfect addition to their third-line center spot and penalty kill. In addition, he would give them more bite, which is something Toronto could use in the playoffs.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings could be another good fit for Schenn. Like Toronto, the Red Wings have been looking to improve their center depth. If they acquired Schenn, he would give them an upgrade over Andrew Copp at the 2C spot.
After winning seven straight games, the Red Wings are back in the playoff race and in a prime position to buy. Adding a skilled veteran like Schenn to help them take that next step could make sense because of it.
New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils have been looking to improve their forward group, so it would be understandable if Schenn got their attention.

If the Devils landed Schenn, he could be a perfect addition for their third-line center spot. A trio of Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Schenn down the middle would be lethal. Schenn would also give them another player with a Stanley Cup on their resume.
