The finalists in the women’s draw will be decided on Thursday in two intriguing ties on Arthur Ashe.
The first match sees Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka, the No 2 seed, face first-time grand slam semi-finalist Emma Navarro.
Sabalenka has reached at least the quarter-final stage of the last eight grand slams she has played in and is in the last four of the US Open for the fourth year in a row.
In the second semi-final, Karolina Muchova will take on American sixth seed Jessica Pegula.
Pegula stunned world No 1 Iga Swiatek 6-2, 6-4 late on Wednesday night in New York after Muchova had beaten Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-1 6-4.
Great Britain’s Jack Draper is into the men’s semi-finals, on Friday night, after his win over Alex de Minaur. He will face world No 1 Jannik Sinner. Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe meet in the other semi-final.

What happened to Emma Raducanu?
Emma Raducanu was knocked out by Sofia Kenin in a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 first-round defeat on the Grandstand court.
It looked like it could be a short outing as Kenin rattled through the first set, but Raducanu made a match of it by sending it to three sets.
A poor service game midway through the decider proved costly as the former champion headed home.
Having played just one tournament since Wimbledon and skipping the Olympics to focus on her preparation for the US Open, she will be desperately disappointed to fall at the first hurdle and questions remain over the direction of her career.

Last year, Novak Djokovic equalled Margaret Court’s record of 24 major titles with a brilliant performance over Daniil Medvedev. But the defending champion’s quest for a 25th grand slam singles title was ended on Saturday night by Australia’s Alexei Popyrin.
In the women’s final, Coco Gauff stormed back from a set down to beat Aryna Sabalenka and claim her first grand slam title but was thwarted this year in the fourth round by her compatriot Emma Navarro.
